Humanoid Robot (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., known by its brand OpenLoong, is a state-controlled company in Shanghai that hosts the National and Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. It grew out of a new R&D institution set up in August 2023 by state-owned backbone enterprises and major industry companies; the company was registered in late 2023 with registered capital of RMB 1 billion. In December 2023 it was authorized to host the Shanghai Humanoid Robot Manufacturing Innovation Center, and in May 2024 the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology designated it the National and Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. Its general manager is Xu Bin.

In July 2024, at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, the center released Qinglong, which it describes as China's first full-size, open-source, general-purpose humanoid robot. Launch specifications were 185 cm height, 43 active degrees of freedom, up to 400 Nm joint torque and 1 m/s walking while carrying 40 kg, with the robot integrated with the Shusheng large model from Shanghai AI Laboratory. Qinglong is developed around generalization, benchmarking, multimodality and engineering, with modular, serialized core components for actuation, drive, perception and execution. The center releases Qinglong's operating system, software, hardware and drawings through the OpenLoong open-source community (openloong.org.cn) and plans a new open-source version each year. It has also released the Baihu embodied-AI dataset, produced and stored to the center's own standards.

The organization runs six service platforms: an open-source R&D and training platform, a rapid manufacturing development platform, a testing, evaluation and validation platform, an open-scenario application platform, a financial investment service platform and an ecosystem space operations platform. Its registered address is in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone on Danggui Road, Pudong.
