MoonSpring Bionics (formally Daqi Yuequan Bionic Technology) is a Beijing-based humanoid robotics company founded in June 2023. The company was incubated by a team led by Professor Luquan Ren, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at Jilin University, who is the honorary president of the International Society of Bionic Engineering. The founders combine expertise in biomechanics, materials science, and robotics with over 300 authorized domestic and international patents in the field of bionic robots.
MoonSpring Bionics focuses on industrializing high-degree-of-freedom bionic motion systems and core components for humanoid robots. Its flagship product, the Y-Hand M1, features 38 degrees of freedom and can replicate approximately 98% of human hand movements, including using chopsticks, threading needles, unscrewing bottle caps, and turning pages, achieving sub-millimeter precision and kilogram-level load capacity. The company also offers the X-Hand M1, a dexterous hand variant, and the X-Bot and W-Bot robotic platforms.
The company uses a proprietary bionic tension-compression drive mechanism that underpins both its dexterous hand and robotic arm products. Early commercial traction has been strong: before completing its Pre-A funding round, the company had already secured orders worth tens of millions of yuan.
Funding milestones include an angel round in September 2023 from Zhongguancun Development Group's Qihang Investment, a subsequent angel+ round in April 2024, and a nearly 100 million yuan Pre-A round led by Hongtai Fund, with Changxing Fund and Zhongguancun Qihang Fund participating. Proceeds are allocated to humanoid robot R&D, talent acquisition, and commercialization acceleration.
The company's primary markets span manufacturing and industrial automation, where its dexterous hands enable flexible assembly tasks previously requiring human dexterity. MoonSpring Bionics positions itself at the intersection of bionic engineering and general-purpose humanoid robotics, targeting the rapidly growing Chinese and global humanoid robot supply chain.
