Egyptian robotics startup founded in 2023 whose Bennu mobile robot harvests in Saudi greenhouses; also built a traffic robot for Egypt's Interior Ministry.
Egrobots is a robotics and AI company founded in Egypt in 2023 by Akhlad Alabhar and Amr Saleh. Alabhar, who studied computer engineering and control systems at Alexandria University, committed full-time to the project in mid-2022 before the company formally launched. Egrobots operates in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, with offices in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and describes its focus as physical AI: autonomous systems and robots for agriculture, industry and public services.
The company's main platform is Bennu, a multipurpose mobile robot developed in-house that combines perception with physical action. Its current deployment is greenhouse harvesting in a commercial greenhouse project in Saudi Arabia with Mahasil, where the robot works between crop rows. Spraying and trimming functions for greenhouses are in development, and warehouse and factory material-movement tasks are being explored subject to site assessment. Press coverage of the autonomous harvesting robot reported that it uses computer vision and autonomous navigation to identify ripe produce, can be fitted with up to four robotic arms, harvests about 160 kg per hour and can operate around the clock.
Egrobots also developed a street robot for public-space monitoring and traffic-violation detection, demonstrated with Egypt's Ministry of Interior; the project used more than 70% local components and conversational AI. Earlier work included several types of robots for agricultural data collection and AI software that turns farm data into recommendations. Humanoid and industrial automation products are in development.
The company has reported raising USD 500,000 and participates in Google for Startups and NVIDIA Inception. It was the first Egyptian company featured in the main opening keynote of Google I/O Connect in Berlin.
