Saint-Malo startup founded 2020 building the D01 autonomous robot that de-leafs greenhouse tomato plants day and night, with 50+ units at French cooperatives.
Aisprid is a French deep-tech company founded in 2020 and based in Saint-Malo, Brittany, that designs and operates autonomous robots for greenhouse vegetable growing. Its first and main application is de-leafing (leaf removal) of tomato plants grown under glass, a repetitive and physically demanding task. Nicolas Salmon is CEO and co-founder. The company reports a team of about 35 employees with expertise in robotics, computer vision and AI, plus a field team of robotics technicians.
The Aisprid D01 is a patented autonomous de-leafing robot. According to the company it works up to 2 m high, cuts close to the stem, changes rows without operator intervention, runs day and night and in all greenhouse climate conditions including extreme heat, and can take over up to 80% of de-leafing work. Night operation more than doubled the robot's working capacity, the company said in 2025. Growers monitor the fleet and its performance through a remote pilot app; software is updated remotely and hardware on site. A battery swap station, announced for 2027, is intended to give the robot 24/7 autonomy with a one-minute battery change.
Aisprid states it has deployed more than 50 robots since 2024, mainly with large French tomato cooperatives, and offers the robot in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. In January 2025 it reported 30 robots in service across the five largest French tomato cooperatives, which account for about 70% of the national greenhouse tomato market. Customer testimonials come from producers in Brittany and the Nantes region.
In January 2025 Aisprid closed a EUR 10 million Series A round led by Innovacom (Turenne Groupe), with Bpifrance, Demeter, GO Capital, Breizh Up and business angels, to fund R&D, production scale-up and international expansion. Awards include the SIVAL d'Or (2024), the GreenTech Robot Challenge Award (Netherlands, 2024), i-Lab and a France 2030 laureate listing. Support partners include French Tech Rennes Saint-Malo, Region Bretagne, Saint-Malo Agglomeration, Village by CA, Robagri, Vegepolys Valley and La Ferme Digitale. The company exhibited at GreenTech Amsterdam in June 2026.
