On August 10, Tianjin's Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Development and Reform Commission, and Science and Technology Bureau jointly released the 'Tianjin Smart Robot Industry Innovation Development Action Plan (2026-2028).' This three-year plan sets a robust target: by the end of 2028, the core output value of the smart robot industry in Tianjin is expected to exceed 20 billion yuan, with an annual growth rate of over 15%. The plan aims to enhance the regional supply rate in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area to over 60%.
This initiative is significant as it outlines a comprehensive industrial ecosystem encompassing all stages from research and development to manufacturing, application, and service. Key actions include tackling core technologies, optimizing product lines, strengthening enterprises, and implementing demonstration applications. Tianjin plans to focus on improving the performance of critical components and developing at least 200 specialized industrial models, alongside creating high-quality datasets.
Looking ahead, Tianjin aims to cultivate over three enterprises with output values exceeding 1 billion yuan and establish a smart robot innovation center. The city is also set to enhance collaboration with Beijing's tech resources and promote the humanoid robot industry chain. As of the first half of this year, Tianjin's smart robot industry achieved an industrial output value of 6.849 billion yuan, marking a 15.2% year-on-year increase, indicating that the ambitious target is within reach.
Editor's Note
Tianjin's strategic plan for its smart robot industry reflects a growing trend in urban centers to leverage robotics for economic development. The focus on comprehensive ecosystem development and collaboration with neighboring regions highlights the importance of regional synergy in advancing technological capabilities. This initiative may influence investment patterns and competitive dynamics within the robotics sector.
