Lunar Outpost is a privately held space robotics company founded in 2017 and headquartered in Golden, Colorado, by CEO Justin Cyrus along with co-founders Julian Cyrus, AJ Gemer, and Forest Meyen. The company designs, manufactures, and operates autonomous and crewed rovers for lunar surface exploration, resource prospecting, and infrastructure development. In May 2026, NASA selected Lunar Outpost under a $220 million firm-fixed-price contract to build and deliver the Pegasus Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) for the Artemis program by 2028. The Pegasus is a crewed, open-cab rover designed to carry two astronauts side by side, operable in manual, autonomous, or teleoperated modes at speeds exceeding 9 mph, and rated for up to one year of surface operations. The Golden headquarters includes mission control, design, manufacturing, and testing facilities, complemented by a 1,000-acre Lunar Vehicle Testing Facility in southern Colorado.
