Fortem Technologies Secures $50 Million to Expand Counter-Drone Systems Amid Rising Demand

Fortem Technologies has successfully closed a $50 million Series B funding round, led by Lockheed Martin, to enhance its counter-drone capabilities. This funding will support manufacturing acceleration at its Utah facility and expand the deployment of its SkyDome Family of Systems, which integrates advanced radar, AI software, and autonomous interceptors.

The increasing prevalence of unauthorized drones in both civilian and military airspace underscores the importance of Fortem's technology. The company has secured significant contracts, including a multimillion-dollar agreement with the Department of Homeland Security for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a contract with the US Army for global installation defense, highlighting the growing market for counter-UAS solutions.

Looking ahead, Fortem aims to leverage this funding to not only develop new technologies but also to increase production and deployment of existing systems. As demand for effective counter-drone solutions escalates, Fortem is poised to transition from experimental phases to large-scale deployments, addressing the urgent need for reliable airspace security.

Editor's Note

The counter-drone technology sector is witnessing rapid growth as security concerns escalate. Fortem Technologies' recent funding round reflects a broader trend in the industry, where companies are focusing on scalable solutions that can be deployed swiftly. This investment from Lockheed Martin further strengthens partnerships in the defense sector, indicating a shift towards more integrated airspace security solutions.
