Wuhan Huagong Laser Engineering Co., Ltd. (HG Laser) was established in 1997 as the laser equipment R&D brand of Huagong Technology (HGTECH), the Wuhan-based industrial group listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The company describes itself as a provider of laser intelligent equipment, automated production lines and smart factory solutions. The machine fires a laser at a weed's meristem (growth tissue); the heat vaporizes cell fluid so the cells rupture and the plant cannot regrow, removing weeds without herbicides or soil contact. The listing states 99% weed recognition accuracy and 24-hour operation. Recognition runs on an AI model hosted on an edge computing platform; a self-developed laser control system and dynamic aiming algorithm allow shooting while the machine moves; a multi-source fused positioning system handles navigation; and a terrain-adaptive chassis carries the payload over uneven ground. Two versions are offered: a self-powered unit (Laserweed A4) and an externally powered control-box assembly that can be ganged in multiple units, with further options configurable to customer needs. The product page names Harbin Huagong Zhiyun Technology Co., Ltd. as the supplier of the robot. Science and Technology Daily reported in July 2026 that the Harbin team's laser weeding robot had completed 170 mu of work at a frozen green bean base in Shuangcheng District, Harbin, and more than 1,000 mu of trials on soybean and corn bases in Heilongjiang.
