Company Overview

Roomie IT is a Mexican technology company headquartered at Insurgentes Sur 1446 in Mexico City, with a second office at One Broadway, Kendall Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The company was co-founded by Aldo Luevano, who led it as CEO during its robotics phase; Blanca Ramos is the current CEO. Intel has described Roomie as the first Latin American robotics company to specialize in service robots, and Forbes Mexico listed Roomie IT among its 30 most promising companies.

The company's robotics work began with Roomie Bot, presented in 2017 as a Spanish-speaking home service robot. According to Xataka Mexico, the first version took about 18 months of research and development by a team of just over 20 people, ran on a Raspberry Pi with software written in C++, used an integrated camera to recognize people and raise alerts on unidentified visitors, avoided obstacles, could be controlled over the internet and exposed an open API for third-party developers.

The later RoomieBot platform was designed as a concierge robot for hotels and restaurants. When COVID-19 reached Mexico, Roomie adapted it for hospital use in about four weeks. In this version the wheeled robot records a patient's temperature, blood oxygen level (via a pulse oximeter) and medical history on arrival, helps route the patient to the right doctor, supports bedside video calls with family members, and has an antibacterial coating on its outer skin and LCD panel. Patient data is streamed to Amazon Web Services for authorized medical staff. Intel reported in May 2021 that RoomieBot had been in use for about a year at a hospital of the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (ISSSTE). The robot's compute and perception stack uses an Intel Movidius VPU, 8th Gen Intel NUC mini PCs, Intel RealSense depth cameras and the OpenVINO toolkit.

Today Roomie IT positions itself as an agentic AI and automation provider Its portfolio lists eight modules: order-to-cash, agentic recruiting, legal and compliance, legacy systems takeover, enterprise application automation, agentic customer and IT support, real-time insights, and Physical AI / service robots, the last covering humanoid service robots and AI-on-edge solutions. Customer logos shown on its website include Citi, Allianz, Intel, Banorte, Bimbo, Bayer, Soriana, ISSSTE and Centro Medico ABC. The company reports ISO 20000, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certification and CMMI-DEV appraisal, and is an AWS Partner and Red Hat Business Partner.
