Kajima Corporation, founded in 1840 by Iwakichi Kajima in Edo (present-day Tokyo), is one of Japan's largest and oldest construction companies. Headquartered at 1-3-1 Motoakasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo, it is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE: 1812) and is a constituent of the Nikkei 225. In robotics and automation, Kajima developed A4CSEL (Automated/Autonomous/Advanced/Accelerated Construction System for Safety, Efficiency, and Liability), the world's first system for simultaneously operating multiple automated construction machines with minimal operators. A4CSEL has been deployed at dam construction sites and mountain tunnel projects, with AI-optimized work plans transmitted to modified general-purpose heavy machinery. Since 2016, Kajima has collaborated with JAXA to adapt A4CSEL for lunar construction applications.
