J2 E&C Co., Ltd. is a South Korean specialty contractor based in Seo-gu, Incheon, working in painting, waterproofing, floor finishing and facility maintenance, and the painting partner behind Hyundai Engineering's exterior-wall painting robot for high-rise buildings. The business traces its history to Jeil Waterproofing Paint Works, founded in October 1994, which became a corporation in 2004, was renamed J2 Construction and in 2013 took its current name. Chief executive Kim Dae-jung leads the company. Job-site data from Saramin list 13 employees on the national pension register and annual revenue of about KRW 3.0 billion.
Contracting business. The company's website presents it as a floor-construction specialist and lists its licensed work as plastering, tiling and waterproofing, painting, interior fit-out, mechanical equipment, Class 1 gas facility construction, metal structures and windows, asbestos removal and facility maintenance. Its specialities include polyurea coatings (it registered as a KCC polyurea contractor in 2010 and obtained eco-label certification for a flame-retardant polyurea in 2025), fire-resistant paint, waterproofing and caulking, and its SRU and SRE systems. Reference projects shown on the site include polyurea work at Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital, the Ajou University Hospital car park, the Jeju National University Hospital helipad and the Gangnam Central City underground car park; fire-resistant paint at Jeju Dream Tower, KT Gwanghwamun and Korea Southern Power's Samcheok plant; and facility maintenance at the Hyundai Department Store Trade Center branch. Robotics. Since 2020 J2 E&C has worked with Hyundai Engineering, a Hyundai Motor Group construction company, on a remote-controlled robot that replaces workers on suspended gondolas when painting the facades of high-rise buildings. Operators control the robot from the ground or roof. It uses posture control with a horizontal auto-correction sensor and two sub-fans to stay stable in wind, high-durability wire with an altitude sensor for automatic stops, multiple nozzles for continuous top-to-bottom spraying, and an anti-scatter case with dust-collecting fans and a three-stage filter. A low-scatter, unthinned paint developed for the robot is reported to cut overspray by more than 90% compared with water-based paint, and field tests showed roughly twice the speed of manual painting. The robot was invited to a construction automation robot demonstration by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) in 2023, won an innovation award at MOLIT's 2024 Smart Construction Challenge, and in February 2026 was designated New Construction Technology No. 1042 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. J2 E&C's company history records the smart-construction new-technology designation and certificate for the exterior-wall painting robot in January 2026, and its website has a 'construction smart robot' section with product brochures and construction videos.
