Dusty Robotics, founded in 2018 and headquartered in Mountain View, California, develops robotic layout tools for the construction industry. The company was co-founded by Tessa Lau (CEO) and Philipp Herget. Its flagship product, the FieldPrinter, is an autonomous mobile robot that reads digital BIM (Building Information Model) files and prints construction layout lines directly onto concrete slab floors at 1:1 scale. A single operator can cover 10,000 to 15,000 square feet per day using the FieldPrinter, compared to the manual method of chalk lines and tape measures.
The company's FieldPrint Platform provides an end-to-end BIM-to-field workflow with native integrations for Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. In 2023, Dusty Robotics launched the second-generation FieldPrinter 2, featuring enhanced print speed and accuracy. The system eliminates layout errors that commonly cause rework on construction projects, targeting general contractors, subcontractors, and specialty trades in commercial and industrial construction.

The FieldPrinter has been deployed on large-scale commercial construction projects across the United States, including data centers, hospitals, airports, and office buildings. Customers include major general contractors who need precise, repeatable layout for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, structural steel, and architectural finishes.
Dusty Robotics targets the construction industry's chronic productivity problem: the sector has seen minimal output-per-worker growth over decades. By automating the layout step, which must be completed before any other trade can begin work, the company positions itself at a critical bottleneck in the construction workflow.
