AVITA

AVITA, Inc. is a Tokyo company founded on 1 June 2021 by Hiroshi Ishiguro, the roboticist known for his android research, who serves as representative director and CEO. It is headquartered in Alco Tower in Shimomeguro, Meguro-ku, lists an office in Dubai at DIFC Innovation One and states that it also has an office in Korea. Shogo Nishiguchi is vice president, COO and CFO. The company describes itself as drawing on more than 25 years of robotics and avatar research.

Its established business is avatar software and services. AVACOM is a remote customer-service system in which staff operate CG avatars on screens at stores, reception desks and websites; AVITA cites Tokyo Shoko Research data from March 2026 ranking it first in Japan by installed terminals. KDDI adopted AVACOM for its next-generation remote customer-service platform. Other services include AI avatar role-play training, AI interview tools, custom avatar production (digital humans, anime characters, mascots) and a BPaaS service supplying remote avatar workers with staffing partners. Lawson and AVITA opened an avatar and generative-AI flagship convenience store in Osaka, and Osaka Gas co-developed a real-time digital human avatar with it for online consultations.

In 2026 the company extended this remote-operation model to physical robots. In February 2026 it acquired 100% of A-Lab, a Japanese developer of humanoid robots, and in March 2026 it signed a memorandum of understanding with Booster Robotics, describing itself as the first Japanese company to collaborate with Booster on humanoids and physical AI. In September 2026 it launched a Human-in-the-Loop physical AI offering in which robots run under AI control and remote operators step in when the AI struggles, with operator actions recorded to train the models; target tasks include picking, packing, kitting, sorting, cycle counting, material transport and reception. A joint demonstration with Daicel at its Otake Plant in Hiroshima uses a Unitree Go2 quadruped for plant patrol and equipment inspection, with driving tests from August 2026 and autonomous-driving verification planned from December 2026. A humanoid has also been trialled for station guidance in Osaka.

On 30 September 2026 AVITA opened Humanoid Store (humanoid-store.com), a product site for corporate and municipal buyers. The first lineup consists of in-house robots: the N2H humanoid in a Mechanic Style and a Bionic Style with hair, eyes, teeth and skin that can replicate a specific person or character, a Robot Head unit for mounting on other humanoids, and a wheeled Mobility Style robot. All are positioned around AVITA OS, a software platform integrating movement, task execution, dialogue and safety control that spans CG avatars as well as robots. AVITA OS is listed as coming soon, and the company plans to add third-party robots compatible with it. No specifications or prices are published.

AVITA raised 1.37 billion yen in a Series A round in August 2024; the investors are not named on its site. At CEATEC 2026 it is exhibiting humanoid robots and physical AI solutions jointly with Booster Robotics and Fairy Devices.
