The International Society of Automation has announced that ISASecure is collaborating with the NSA to create a new certification scheme for operational technology components. This initiative aims to enhance the security of commercial components used in National Security Systems, addressing the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures.
The certification scheme, known as High Criticality Component Security Assurance (HCSA), is designed to bolster confidence in the security of OT systems. It builds upon the existing Component Security Assurance certification and aligns with the ISA 62443 standard, which outlines specific cybersecurity requirements for operational technology components.
As the HCSA scheme progresses, it will serve as an approved certification mechanism for evaluating OT OEM components for inclusion on the NSA's National Security Systems OT Product Compliant List. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
