Y Combinator Spring 2026 startup in San Francisco building Tobi, a modular humanoid for caregiving tasks in nursing homes and senior living.
Twolabs Inc. is a San Francisco robotics startup founded in 2026 and backed by Y Combinator as part of its Spring 2026 batch. The company builds a modular humanoid robot together with a software platform for collecting data, training skills and deploying autonomous robots.
Its first robot design is Tobi, a caregiving humanoid aimed at nursing homes and senior living communities. Initial functions described by the company include helping residents with feeding and dressing, giving medication reminders, fetching objects and providing mobility support. The team states that it is training vision-language-action (VLA) models for manipulation and building a social intelligence layer for interaction with residents.
Twolabs was founded by Sardor Rahmatulloev (CEO), who studied computer science at Cornell University, led a team of more than 40 engineers building autonomous combat robots and later worked at Meta Superintelligence Labs on GPU optimization and foundation model training, and Danyal Ahmad (CTO), a former Salesforce engineer with a master's degree in AI from Georgia Tech who worked on fine-tuning video models. Y Combinator lists the team size as two.
