Mexican telepresence-robotics startup from Leon (est. 2016), ANA Avatar XPRIZE finalist, building the Prometheus 3.0 teleoperated humanoid avatar.
Inbiodroid is a Mexican technology start-up based in León, Guanajuato, that develops telepresence robots, teleoperated humanoids, 3D perception and haptic interfaces, and offers robotics R&D services. According to its website, the company was founded in 2016 after taking part in Start Up Mexico and was recognised as a high-impact company by SICES, the Guanajuato state innovation agency, in 2017.
XPRIZE. Inbiodroid registered for the ANA Avatar XPRIZE in 2019, was named a semifinalist in 2021 as the only Latin American team in the semifinal testing, and reports finishing seventh worldwide in the 2022 finals. In 2023 it shifted to a commercial focus and was selected for the Idea GTO fund programme, which ran through 2024-2025; during this period it consolidated R&D services.
Prometheus 3.0. The company's main platform is the Prometheus series of telepresence avatars, with Prometheus 3.0 completed in 2025. Prometheus 3.0 is a humanoid designed for real-time teleoperation using the company's Hermes-Avatar architecture: Vive trackers capture the operator's movements, pose data are sent over UDP to a single-board computer that converts them into joint commands, and the commands are distributed over serial links to several microcontrollers that drive the actuators over CAN bus. The robot uses eRob actuators from ZeroErr in the arms, CubeMars AK10-9 actuators in the torso and MyActuator RMD actuators in the neck and gripper, with Teensy 4.1 microcontrollers on the robot side and ESP32 (DFRobot Beetle C3) boards in the operator rig; firmware is written in C++ with PlatformIO. The avatars provide stereoscopic vision, spatial audio and remote touch.
Applications and partners. Target uses include remote operation in high-risk facilities without direct human exposure, immersive medical tele-assistance with stereoscopic vision and real-time haptic feedback, and exploration of collapsed or inaccessible areas controlled from safe centres. Services cover teleoperation, AI integration and custom robotics engineering, with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects and three months of free technical advice for initial setup. Partners named on the site include Tecnologico de Monterrey, a CONACYT public optics and photonics research centre, Guanajuato's IECA training institute and CIMAT. The company cites more than four prototypes developed and more than ten allied institutions.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Teleoperated humanoid avatar that mirrors operator motion captured by Vive trackers over a UDP link.
Operator-side motion capture and control rig for the Prometheus avatar, based on ESP32 boards.
