GITAI Inc. is a space robotics company founded in July 2016 by CEO Sho Nakanose, originally in Japan and now headquartered in Torrance, California, with operations relocated to the US by end of 2023. GITAI's flagship products include the S2, a 1.5-meter autonomous dual robotic arm system that achieved NASA TRL 7 certification for on-orbit services (inspection, repair, assembly), and the G1, a general-purpose humanoid robot combining AI and teleoperation for use inside and outside space stations and future lunar bases.
The company also develops inchworm-type robotic arms ranging from 1 m to 10 m, and a lunar rover for infrastructure construction on the Moon. GITAI has raised over $60.5 million in total funding including a Series B extension of $45 million in 2023, and counts NASA, JAXA, and major aerospace primes among its partners.
