Company Overview

Flory Industries is a family-owned manufacturer of nut-harvesting equipment headquartered at 4737 Toomes Road in Salida, California, on a 106-acre property the Flory family has occupied since 1909. The company states it has served agriculture since 1936; the family ran a custom grain and bean harvesting business from 1935 to 1974, built its first pick-up harvester in 1961 and a self-propelled heavy-duty sweeper in 1972. Today it focuses on nut-harvesting equipment for almond, walnut and pistachio growers, as well as flail mowers and vineyard equipment.

In February 2023 Flory acquired COE Orchard Equipment (Custom Orchard Equipment) of Live Oak, California, a maker of shaker and catching-frame harvesters founded in 1970. COE continues as a Flory subsidiary under its own brand, and the combination gave the group about 570 employees and what Flory calls a full-line offering of both on-ground and off-ground harvest machinery.

Flory's on-ground line includes the 8772 self-propelled harvester, the 860 and 870 high-capacity PTO harvesters, the VX240 ultra-low-dust PTO harvester and the 490 PTO harvester; sweepers in the 34, V62, 79 and 58 series plus tractor-mount sweepers; VR700 and M700 shakers; conditioners, shuttles, carts, elevators, shredders, mowers and blowers. The COE off-ground range adds C7 and L2 catching sets, RS8 and R10 shuttles, a W8 bin carrier, a B8 conveyor cart and E5 and ES8 elevators.

Its link to autonomy comes through a partnership with Bonsai Robotics announced in February 2024 to bring vision-based autonomy and driver augmentation to sweepers and other orchard machines, starting with the Super V sweeper shown at World Ag Expo. Flory markets the resulting VisionSteer feature on the V62 sweeper, which keeps the machine centered in the row. Bonsai describes the V62 system as a vision-first AI that provides operator-assist steering without GPS or RTK, works day and night in dust and low visibility, retrofits to existing V62 units and is claimed to raise daily acreage by more than 20 percent. Flory also offers contract manufacturing and custom metal fabrication, parts, equipment service and repair, and sells through a dealer network.
