Devanthro GmbH, founded in 2018 and based in Garching bei Munich, Germany, develops Robodies — full-body humanoid robotic avatars that combine AI and human teleoperation to deliver 24/7 care, companionship, and physical assistance in residential settings. Building on nine years of full-stack robotics R&D and three generations of humanoid platforms, Devanthro has deployed Robodies in real homes since 2024, becoming the first company globally with humanoids legally deployable in private residences. In January 2026, a Robody became the first humanoid robot worldwide to provide care for a person with dementia at home.
The platform features soft skin for safe human interaction, immersive VR teleoperation with haptic feedback, high-resolution stereo vision, and bi-manual dexterous manipulation for tasks such as fetching items, administering medication, and companionship. Partners include Charité Berlin, University of Oxford, and Diakonie. Devanthro is commercializing home-care Robody services with Germany's largest care providers, with reimbursement pathways validated.
