EVENT OVERVIEW

RoboDEX (Robot Development & Application Expo) is a trade show for industrial and service robots, AGVs, AMRs and robot components. It is one of five shows under Factory Innovation Week (FIW) Tokyo, run by RX Japan GK. The others are SMART FACTORY Expo, GREEN FACTORY Expo, Manufacturing Industry's HR Expo and the new Factory Safety & Accessibility Expo. The 2027 Tokyo edition runs February 17–19 at Tokyo Big Sight, 10:00–17:00 daily, alongside AUTOMOTIVE WORLD. RoboDEX launched in 2017; the January 2026 show was its 10th edition. RX Japan's 2026 post-show report lists 1,711 exhibiting companies, 360 from overseas, and 78,673 visits across the combined event. China sent 137 exhibitors, the largest overseas group. For 2027, RX Japan forecasts 1,800 exhibitors and 88,000 visitors including concurrent shows.

The exhibit profile covers industrial robots for assembly, welding, transport, polishing and deburring; service robots for care, reception, delivery, cleaning and security; drone services; and core technology such as control, sensing and drives. For 2027 the Japanese site announces two new zones: Physical AI World and Humanoid Robot World, both aimed at industrial deployment and sales meetings. A Generative AI World area is also listed. The 2026 conference included a Boston Dynamics session on general-purpose humanoids, NVIDIA on robotics and Physical AI, Foxconn on automation in EMS manufacturing, and talks by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Kawada Robotics. A 2026 special exhibit on humanoid robots drew TV coverage. The 2027 conference program and speakers are not yet published. Exhibitors in 2026 included FANUC, Kawada Robotics, Techman Robot, SoftBank Robotics and HIWIN.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

RECOMMENDED ATTENDEES

RoboDEX suits manufacturing engineers, plant managers, system integrators and distributors who buy or resell factory and logistics automation in Japan. It is also useful for Chinese, Korean and Taiwanese robot makers looking for Japanese partners, since they form the largest overseas exhibitor groups. Most content is in Japanese. Visitors who want a larger, robotics-only show should consider iREX (International Robot Exhibition), held in Tokyo in odd years, which is also at Tokyo Big Sight. Researchers will find little academic content here.
