"Printing the future of sustainable construction."
UPC spin-off printing mould-free precast concrete with its ISCEX instant-setting extrusion and TRACE lot-traceability platform near Barcelona.
Aridditive is a Barcelona-area startup that manufactures 3D-printed concrete and precast elements for construction, interior design and public space. It was founded in 2023 as a spin-off of the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) and its CIM UPC technology centre, building on more than a decade of research by the university's Advanced Digital Factory (DigiFACT) group. Roger Uceda is CEO and Arnau Cumelles is co-founder. The company is based at Carretera de Torrelles de Llobregat 42 in Sant Vicenc dels Horts (Barcelona) and is a member of the Barcelona ConTech Hub.
Its core technology is ISCEX (Instant Setting Concrete Extrusion), a proprietary print-head process that uses accelerating additives so the deposited concrete sets almost immediately. This allows complex geometries to be printed without formwork or moulds, with real-time control of the printing process. Production runs on the company's Volta 3D printer, which can output 1 to 4 tonnes of parts per day, inside a safety enclosure that meets CE industrial safety requirements. The control system connects to TRACE, a cloud traceability platform hosted on AWS that records the manufacturing parameters and materials of every production lot. TRACE issues a Manufacturing Passport covering quality, certification and traceability, and a Sustainability Passport that assesses the ecological impact of each lot.
Aridditive operates a manufacturing-as-a-service model, supplying customised, mould-free concrete parts rather than selling printers. Its two standard product families are concrete 3D lettering (logos, letters, totems and sculptural signage) and urban furniture (benches, chairs, tables, loungers and planters) for public spaces, hotels, hospitals, campuses and corporate sites. It also produces architectural and building components on demand. Reference projects include lettering and furniture for the Parc Tauli hospital campus with Benito Urban, the Biblioteca Ca l'Altisent, Can Coll, a totem for Molins, formwork for Encofrados Alsina, a large sculpture with Lily Brick, and a 3D-printed concrete pedestrian bridge with CIM UPC.
In May 2026 the company completed the renovation of the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona with Construnext and material partner Molins. More than 340 functional elements, including sofas, stairs, bars and the DJ booth, were printed off-site from the project's digital model. The job took seven weeks against nearly five months for a conventional process, used about 45% less concrete and avoided roughly 50 tonnes of CO2.
In November 2024 Aridditive raised a EUR 500,000 pre-seed round led by BeAble Capital with Suma Capital, supported by ACCIO's Startup Capital programme. CB Insights also lists UPC and CIM UPC as investors. In June 2026 it won the EmprendeXXI Award in the Industry 4.0, Manufacturing, Construction and Transport category.
