Volkswagen and Xpeng Motors have announced a collaboration that will allow their electric vehicle owners to access each other's fast-charging networks. This partnership, revealed on Monday, aims to enhance convenience for users by providing access to over 20,000 public chargers across 420 cities in China. The move comes as both companies seek to strengthen their positions in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle market. Volkswagen China, which holds a 35% stake in the charging infrastructure company CAMS, is leveraging this alliance to expand its reach and improve charging accessibility for its customers. This initiative reflects a growing trend among automakers to collaborate on infrastructure to support the increasing demand for electric vehicles.
