"Physical general intelligence. For a better tomorrow."
Munich-area humanoid startup founded 2025 developing the Vesoma 1 robot trained by reinforcement learning; staff exceeded 60 by September 2026.
Vesoma is a humanoid robot developer with operations in Garching near Munich, Germany, and Limassol, Cyprus. The German operating company, Vesoma GmbH, is registered at the Munich local court under HRB 306532 with Nikolai Ensslen as managing director, while the website is operated by Vesoma Ltd, registered in Limassol under HE 485133. According to the company, it was registered and began work in December 2025, and by its public launch on 22 September 2026 it had grown to more than 60 people and fitted out over 3,500 square metres of lab and office space across the two sites.
The company was co-founded by Nikolai Ensslen, chief executive, previously a co-founder of the motion-control and functional-safety vendor Synapticon, and Peter Skoromnyi, chief strategy officer, a co-founder of the mobile game publisher Easybrain and of Apalon. Martin Riedmiller, formerly a research director and control team lead at Google DeepMind and a professor of machine learning who founded the Brainstormers RoboCup teams, is chief AI officer. Other leaders include COO Jonas Reinecke, who previously scaled the precision manufacturing company Daedalus, head of product Bart Rosier, a co-founder of the scooter maker Etergo, head of supply chain Marco Ciuffreda, who industrialised hardware at Lamborghini, Lilium and Vay, and head of design Marcelo Gutierrez, who worked on Tesla Optimus generations and designed the Apptronik Apollo humanoid.
Its first product is Vesoma 1, a general-purpose humanoid that the company describes as under development; it states that alpha robots are already in its lab and that its first prototypes were designed, built and walked within six months of founding. No specifications such as height, weight, payload, degrees of freedom or runtime have been published, and no launch date has been announced.
Technically, Vesoma is pursuing a self-improving agent trained mainly through reinforcement learning on its own hardware rather than relying on large volumes of human demonstration data. The company says the gait of its prototypes was learned by the system itself, and it designs the humanoid body, including kinematics, actuation and sensing, in-house so that the hardware is suited to closed-loop training. It also states that safety architecture is built into the design from the start and that members of its team participate in robot-safety standards work.
The initial target markets named by the company are manufacturing, logistics and warehousing, with care work and other tasks cited as longer-term goals. Funding amounts and investors have not been disclosed.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
