Company Overview

Venturi Space is the space branch of the Venturi group, led by Monegasque entrepreneur Gildo Pastor, who also chairs Venturi. The group took the high-performance electric vehicle know-how it had built over two decades into lunar and Martian mobility, and Venturi Space has been developing rover technology since 2021. The website is run by VENTURI SPACE (Monaco), a SARL registered in Monaco at 7 rue du Gabian, care of SAM Venturi. The company works from three European hubs: Monaco designs and makes the batteries, Switzerland (Venturi Lab SA, Corminboeuf) designs and makes the wheels, and France (Venturi Space France, Ramonville-Saint-Agne near Toulouse) develops the battery management electronics and leads the engineering, integration and qualification of complete rovers. Its Monaco and Swiss entities hold AS9100 / ISO 9001 certificates.

The company first entered the market as a strategic partner of US-based Venturi Astrolab, Inc., a separate company. Venturi Space designs and makes the hyper-deformable wheels, high-performance battery packs and battery management systems for Astrolab's rovers, while Astrolab handles the architecture, structure, mechanisms, command software, avionics and testing. The rovers Venturi Space supplies are FLIP, a 450 kg payload rover to fly on Astrobotic's Griffin-1 mission (late 2026, Falcon Heavy); CLV-1, a 950 kg crewed lunar vehicle for NASA's Artemis IV (2028); and FLEX-C, a 1.4 t rover planned for a 2029 Starship launch.

The Venturi wheel is 930 mm in diameter and uses 192 sprung cables in place of spokes. It is made from a flexible material Venturi Space developed to work from -240 C to +130 C, and is meant to climb slopes above 20 degrees. The lunar battery is built from cells that Venturi Space screens itself, and it shares the same temperature range. The battery management system has a master Battery Management Unit and several Cell Monitoring Units; it checks every cell voltage every 10 ms and computes state of charge and state of health in real time. Its algorithms come from terrestrial vehicles such as the VOXAN motorcycle.

Venturi Space is also building its own European rovers. MONA LUNA was unveiled at the Paris Air Show in June 2025 and is intended for ESA and CNES needs. It is a 750 kg autonomous, solar-recharged rover with a top speed of 20 km/h, a robotic arm for handling instruments and the ability to survive several lunar nights. It is planned to fly to the lunar South Pole around 2030 on Ariane 64 and ESA's Argonaut lander. MONA LUNA finished its first driving tests at the ESA/DLR LUNA facility in Cologne in late 2025. Since January 2026 the company has been working under an ESA risk-reduction contract on mobility, power and thermal technologies for heavier rovers, including egress tests from a mock-up of the Argonaut lander. ALTA LUNA is a smaller utility rover planned for work around lunar bases. In June 2026 the company announced a 250 million euro, 16,000 square metre technology centre in Toulouse that it expects to create nearly 200 jobs.
