The Construct Robotics Institute
Barcelona-based online robotics education platform founded 2015, offering ROS and ROS 2 courses with cloud-based simulators and remote robot lab access.
The Construct Robotics Institute is an online education and training platform for robotics and Robot Operating System (ROS) skills, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. The company was founded in 2015 by Ricardo Tellez, who serves as CEO and Founder and has a background in academic and applied robotics research.
The platform's core offering is a browser-based learning environment that combines structured video courses, hands-on programming exercises, and access to pre-configured cloud robot simulators running Gazebo, eliminating the need for students or engineers to configure local hardware or software environments. The curriculum covers ROS 1 and ROS 2 fundamentals through advanced topics including robot navigation, manipulation, perception, control, multi-robot systems, and generative AI applications for robotics.
A distinctive feature of the platform is the Remote Robot Lab, which provides learners with scheduled live access to real physical robots located at The Construct's facility in Spain. This enables practical validation of skills beyond simulation, addressing a common gap in purely virtual robotics education.
The Construct serves multiple audiences: individual engineers upskilling or changing careers, universities and academic institutions integrating online ROS content into formal curricula, and corporate clients requiring ROS 2 industrial training for engineering teams. The universities section of the platform lists partnerships with educational institutions worldwide, and the company offers campus licensing for class-sized deployments.
Content is organised into structured learning paths with assessments and certificates of completion. The platform hosts over 100,000 community ROS projects and offers dedicated ROS 2 Industrial workshops for corporate clients transitioning legacy ROS 1 deployments. The GitHub organisation TheConstructAi hosts supplementary course materials and open-source tools.
