Solideon, formerly Additive Space Technologies, was founded in 2022 and is headquartered at 2310 4th St., Berkeley, CA 94710. The company was co-founded by CEO Oluseun Taiwo, who became the first American to launch a 3D-printed rocket engine in 2017 at Rocket Lab USA, and CTO Joel Ilfill, who holds five FAA-authorized patents in precision aerial delivery. Solideon develops multi-robot wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) systems capable of printing, post-processing, assembling, and inspecting large metallic structures without human intervention.
Its flagship product, Aperture, is a collaborative robotic manufacturing cell that combines WAAM with CNC machining and automated inspection to produce finished aerospace components in days rather than months. The company describes itself as the world's only large-scale entity capable of manufacturing any aerospace vehicle end-to-end. In July 2024, Solideon raised a $5M seed round from 16 investors.
It has been awarded a $1.25M contract by the U.S. Department of the Air Force to develop an additive manufacturing cell.
