Sentien Robotics is a US-based autonomous drone fleet logistics company founded in 2014 and headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company develops integrated hardware and software solutions that automate all facets of unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operations, with the stated goal of reducing required manpower while improving safety and mission performance. Its product line centers on the Hive family of autonomous drone ground stations, which handle automated launch, precision landing, battery recharging, data download, and fleet storage without human intervention.
The Hive product family spans multiple form factors suited to different operational scales. The Hive Expedition is an off-road-capable, self-powered unit supporting up to 18 UAS for extended field missions. The Hive-XL is a larger installation featuring 80 charge bays, parallel landing zones, an 11-kilowatt power plant, climate control, and high-speed launch and recovery mechanics capable of sustaining over 30 simultaneous persistent missions. The Hive-ISO packages similar capabilities inside a standard 20-foot ISO shipping container, supporting more than 80 UAS and allowing transport through existing intermodal logistics networks.
Sentien Robotics also develops SHEPARD, which stands for Self-HEaling Platform Agnostic Robotic Director. SHEPARD is a modular, plugin-based software architecture for mission planning, airspace deconfliction, and command and control of unmanned aircraft. The software is integrated with TAK (Team Awareness Kit) and supports numerous VTOL Group 1 and Group 2 UAS models as well as fixed-wing aircraft across a range of mission types. In April 2024, Sentien Robotics announced a partnership agreement with publicly traded drone company Red Cat Holdings to integrate the Hive platform for land, air, and sea drone swarming operations.
