Swedish GNSS and surveying-equipment brand whose HydroBoat 990/1200/1500 USVs carry its own single-beam and multibeam sounders for inland bathymetry.
SatLab Geosolutions AB (trading as SatLab) is a Sweden-based supplier of high-precision positioning and surveying equipment with headquarters at Stora Åvägen 21 in Askim, Gothenburg, and a US office in Tempe, Arizona. The company says it operates 11 international centres and a network of more than 100 dealers, and that its products are designed and engineered in Sweden. Its portfolio spans GNSS RTK receivers, field tablets and controllers, optical instruments including the ART1 robotic total station, LiDAR and SLAM scanners such as the Cygnus 3, Cygnus Lite and SL9 SLAM RTK, the SL8 laser RTK receiver, the Apus-MX UAV LiDAR, Flexidig 3D excavator machine control, and a hydrography and oceanography line. Customers come from civil engineering, construction, mining, forestry, agriculture, hydrology and marine work.
Uncrewed surface vehicles are the core of the hydrography line. The HydroBoat series currently has five models for bathymetric and hydrographic survey of rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ports and near-shore waters. The HydroBoat 990 is an Android-controlled single-beam bathymetric USV: a 1,035 mm IP67 double hull in carbon fibre with rubber bumpers, 20 kg without battery, up to 6 m/s, and about 5 hours per battery at 1.5 m/s with two batteries carried. Its built-in 200 kHz single-beam echo sounder is quoted at plus or minus 0.01 m plus 0.1 percent of depth, and the vehicle has station-keeping (hovering) in flowing water, millimetre-wave radar obstacle detection at 10 to 30 m, a 360-degree video camera, low-battery return and automatic reversing in shallows. SatLab lists IHO-standard compliance and CE certification for this model.
The HydroBoat 1200 is a multi-purpose survey platform with a CFD-optimised hull, a 240 mm moon pool and a 25 kg payload. Besides its built-in single-beam sounder it can carry ADCPs, side-scan sonar, dual-frequency echo sounders, imaging sonar and multi-parameter water-quality meters. The HydroBoat 1200 GEN2 (2026) shrinks the hull to 1.05 m and 29 kg, adds hot-swappable single or dual batteries for more than 4 hours of operation, a built-in 4G module, GNSS-plus-IMU positioning, anti-tangle propellers and a payload of up to 40 kg, and works with the HydroBeam M2 multibeam echo sounder. The HydroBoat 1200MB packages that USV with the HydroBeam M2 as an integrated multibeam solution, with live 3D point clouds and side-scan imagery and SPIN sound-speed profile inversion so that no separate sound-velocity profiler is needed. The HydroBoat 1500 is a 1.5 m carbon-fibre monohull multibeam USV built around the HydroBeam M4 portable multibeam echo sounder, with a through-hull design for up to 60 kg of payload, a 360-degree camera, millimetre-wave radar, a double-layer anti-sink hull and shallow-water hovering.
All HydroBoats are run from the SLHydro USV Android app for route planning, boat control and status monitoring, with 2.4 GHz radio control to about 1.3 km and 4G links for unlimited range. SatLab's onboard GNSS uses GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS and Galileo with quoted RTK accuracy of 8 mm plus 1 ppm horizontal and 15 mm plus 1 ppm vertical, 0.2-degree heading accuracy on a 1 m baseline and a 200 Hz update rate. Data are processed in SLHydro Sounder. Supporting sensors sold alongside the boats include the HydroBeam M4 multibeam echo sounder, the HydroBeam S2 dual-channel (24 kHz and 200 kHz) single-beam echo sounder, the HydroScan side-scan sonar, HydroFlow acoustic Doppler current profilers and the Njord positioning-and-heading GNSS receiver. Typical uses listed by the company are riverbed and channel topography, reservoir capacity and siltation studies, dredging volume calculation, dam safety and deformation monitoring, dockside depth checks, underwater slope inspection, search and rescue and water-quality monitoring. SatLab exhibits at trade shows such as INTERGEO and CSPI-EXPO in Japan, and publishes brochures in English, Spanish and Japanese.
