Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL) is a Pune, India-based defence and aerospace manufacturer operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, part of the Kalyani Group. Bharat Forge held a 51 percent stake in KSSL before raising its ownership to 100 percent in May 2021. KSSL holds an industrial license under India's Arms Act, 1959, and draws on the Kalyani Group's five decades of metallurgy and manufacturing experience.
Product lines span artillery systems, including the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) and the Bharat-52 howitzer, protected and armoured vehicles and their maintenance, repair, and overhaul, small arms and ammunition, air defense equipment, defense electronics, unmanned systems, and marine gas turbine engines. KSSL also takes part in India's Barak 8 medium-range surface-to-air missile program alongside partner organizations. Development work runs through in-house facilities including the Kalyani Centre for Technology and Innovation and the Kalyani Centre for Manufacturing Innovation, supporting India's domestic defence-manufacturing initiatives.
KSSL has exported 100 artillery guns to an overseas customer and reported an order book of about USD 600 million as of February 2025, and it has formed manufacturing partnerships with international defence firms including AM General.
