John Deere (Deere & Company)
"Nothing Runs Like a Deere"
Moline, Illinois farm-equipment maker founded 1837 (NYSE: DE); built the 9RX autonomous tractor and the See and Spray weed-detection system.
Deere & Company, doing business as John Deere, was founded in 1837 by blacksmith John Deere in Grand Detour, Illinois, and is now headquartered in Moline, Illinois. The company trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker DE and manufactures agricultural, construction and forestry machinery, with more than 180 years of continuous operation according to its own materials.
John Deere has built an autonomy and machine-vision program around acquired and in-house technology. Blue River Technology, acquired in 2017, contributed the computer-vision and machine-learning capability now marketed as See and Spray Select, which uses onboard cameras and processing to distinguish crops from weeds and target herbicide application on sprayers. The company has also acquired Bear Flag Robotics, GUSS Automation and SparkAI to extend autonomous navigation and remote-monitoring capability across its equipment lines. Its 9RX autonomous tractor combines a 360-degree camera array with onboard AI processing for hands-free tillage, part of a precision-agriculture platform that also includes GPS guidance and fleet telematics for row-crop, orchard and turf equipment.
Deere's machinery serves farmers, contractors, landscapers and construction operators worldwide through a dealer and manufacturing network spanning multiple continents.
