Intuition Robotics is an Israel-based company that develops ElliQ, an artificial-intelligence care-companion device for older adults, led by chief executive and co-founder Dor Skuler. The company raised 6 million dollars in seed funding in 2017 from investors including iRobot and OurCrowd, a 14 million dollar Series A later that year led by Toyota Research Institute, and a 36 million dollar Series B round in 2020.
ElliQ combines a proprietary Relationship Orchestrator with several large language models to hold conversations, send reminders, and encourage social contact for its users. The system extracts context and emotional state from conversations, combines speech, on-device lights, sounds, and body-language cues for multimodal interaction, weighs multiple goals tied to healthy-aging outcomes, personalizes behavior from accumulated user data, and initiates conversations on its own rather than only responding to voice commands.
The company has partnered with AARP, the New York State Department for the Aging, Ypsilanti Senior Services, MetroPlus Health, the Area Agency on Aging of Broward County, and Senior Resource Alliance to place ElliQ with older-adult populations, and in 2021 it appointed Dr. Michael Cantor as its first chief medical officer. The company has also reported expansion into the Japanese market and support through Washington State's Medicaid program.
