Company Overview

IntuiCell AB, which now presents itself under the brand Intui, is a Swedish AI company that spun out of Lund University in 2020. It has a presence in Lund and in Stockholm, where its registered office is at Norrsken House on Birger Jarlsgatan. The company's premise is that machine intelligence can be built from the mechanisms biological nervous systems use to learn, instead of from large datasets, pre-training and offline simulation. It calls this approach instinctive learning and markets its software as first-generation genuine intelligence.

The scientific basis is neurophysiology research associated with Lund University. The company's research page says its founders spent three decades challenging conventional views of how the brain works. It lists 2025 publications by Henrik Jorntell and co-authors on topics such as haptic invariants in humans and their use in robotics, tactile slip perception, cortical neuron connectivity and the control of behaviour by brain-wide network dynamics. Viktor Luthman is CEO and co-founder.

IntuiCell's link to robotics became public in March 2025, when it showed Luna, a quadruped robot dog running what the company calls a functional digital nervous system. According to Reuters coverage, Luna learns through direct physical interaction with its environment, without pre-training, offline simulation or data-centre compute. At launch it had learned to stand, and the company said it would bring in a dog trainer to teach it to walk. IntuiCell said it plans to extend the technology to more complex robots, including humanoids, and to autonomous machines for unpredictable settings such as space, deep-sea work and disaster response, including robots that could build habitats on Mars.

The company is venture-backed. Early backers named in press coverage are Navigare Ventures in Sweden and SNO Ventures in Norway, together with European Union funding. In October 2025 it raised about SEK 40 million in a round in which Luminar Ventures joined Navigare as a major shareholder. Funding databases also list Red Dawn Ventures, Mist Ventures and LU Ventures as investors, total funding of about USD 6 million and a team of roughly 20 to 30 people. IntuiCell has not published commercial product names, pricing or customer deployments. Its public output so far is the Luna demonstrator and its research publications.
