Kochi startup (relaunched 2022) making the TARA Gen1 semi-humanoid service robot and Daksha industrial humanoid, exported to the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
iHub Robotics, registered as I Hub Research and Robotics Private Limited, is an Indian developer of humanoid and semi-humanoid robots based in Kochi, Kerala. The name stands for Innovation Hub for Robotics. The founders, Athil Krishna, Akhil K. Haridasan and Sarath S., began working on humanoid robots in 2018 while studying mechatronics in Coimbatore, started their first company that year and relaunched the business as iHub Robotics in 2022. The company sells mainly business-to-business and business-to-government, and in press interviews in 2026 reported between 65 and 75 employees, offices in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and a presence in the UAE. Its Kochi facility in Kalamassery includes a roughly 24,000 square foot corridor where robots are trained on tasks through repetition, and the company says it produces 10 to 20 robots a month. It has announced plans for an industrial-humanoid R&D centre in Bengaluru.
The first product line is TARA Gen1, launched in 2024, a wheeled semi-humanoid service robot with arms and an animated face. It speaks more than 100 languages, recognises faces and gestures, holds contextual conversations and navigates rooms with SLAM, returning to its charging dock when the battery runs low. It is sold in three configurations: Tara Greet for reception and front-office work, Tara Learn for teaching and Tara Care for healthcare settings, aimed at hospitality, healthcare, education, banking and public services. Press reports put the deployed base at roughly 35 to 63 units across India, the UAE and Saudi Arabia; the first humanoid shipment to a UAE government organisation was made in 2023, with seven Arabic-speaking Tara robots supplied to UAE government offices, and early Indian customers include Amrita. A listing on humanoid.guide gives a height of 163 cm, a weight of 75 kg, an eight-hour runtime and an NVIDIA Ampere-class compute module, and entry systems are reported to start at around 10,000 US dollars.
The second generation, TARA Gen2 Daksha, is an industrial humanoid for pick-and-place, assembly and warehouse tasks; press coverage says it can lift payloads of up to 25 kg and work at heights of 8 to 10 feet. SAP is described as the first industrial client, deploying Daksha in its living labs, and the company cites a drum-inspection task at a drum manufacturer that fell from 5 to 6 minutes per unit to 35 seconds at 95 percent accuracy. A third generation, a bipedal humanoid referred to as Karma or TARA Gen3, is in development for research, healthcare, service and industrial work. The company also mentions an Astra robotic arm sold to Indian clients and a K9 quadruped that was first deployed in 2026.
On the software side iHub develops its own models, including the Viveka Decision Core, described as a 3.3-billion-parameter vision-language-action model with a seven-expert mixture-of-experts design, and in-house speech models that cut speech-to-speech latency from 10 to 12 seconds. Embedded electronics, battery management and body structures are built in-house; the company states that about 70 percent of robot development is indigenous, with 28 to 30 percent of components sourced from Japan, Taiwan and China, and main compute based on NVIDIA Jetson boards. iHub was selected in January 2025 as the first Indian company in NVIDIA's humanoid robotics programme and has signed memoranda of understanding with EY and SAP. It was largely bootstrapped from project revenue and in March 2025 announced a pre-seed round of about INR 4.3 crore (around 520,000 US dollars) from US-based angel investors, intended for a humanoid manufacturing facility in Kerala.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Wheeled semi-humanoid with 100+ language speech, face and gesture recognition and SLAM navigation, sold as Tara Greet, Learn and Care; deployed in India, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
General-purpose industrial humanoid for pick-and-place, assembly, inspection and warehouse tasks; reported 25 kg lift capacity; piloted in SAP living labs.
Third-generation bipedal humanoid in development, targeting research, healthcare, service and advanced industrial work.
