Company Overview

HP Inc. is the US personal-computing and printing company created in 2015 when Hewlett-Packard split into HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker HPQ, is based in Palo Alto, California, and describes itself as a global technology company that sells devices, software, services and subscriptions in more than 180 countries. Its construction-robotics activity is HP SitePrint, a product line developed within HP's Large Format Printing business, which HP presents as a product rather than a separate business unit; this profile therefore covers HP Inc. with a focus on SitePrint.

HP SitePrint is a robotic layout system that prints a building's floor plan directly onto the slab, replacing chalk lines and manual measuring. HP announced it on 14 September 2022 with an Early Access Programme in North America after more than 80 pilot projects on residential, parking, airport and hospital sites; Daniel Martinez, vice president and general manager of HP Large Format Printing, led the launch, and Skanska was among the first users on two US projects. Commercial availability followed in July 2023 in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland, by which time HP said the system had been used on more than 100 projects in six countries, with Skanska, Greenhatch Group, Level 5 Drywall and PDC Incorporated named as customers. Availability was later extended to Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and in 2024 to Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and Portugal.

The system consists of a compact, rugged autonomous robot that ships in a hard case, a touchscreen tablet or any Wi-Fi device for setup and remote control, the HP SitePrint Cloud for submitting jobs, sharing CAD files from the office and managing the fleet, and a portfolio of inks. The 2023 launch version offered eight interchangeable inks in cyan, magenta and black for porous and non-porous surfaces with permanent or semi-permanent durability. The robot navigates using a robotic total station; HP lists compatibility with Leica TS16, TS60, iCON iCR80 and iCR70, Topcon LN-150, GT-600 and GT-1200, and Trimble RTS573 and S9 instruments. HP quotes layout accuracy of up to +/-3/32 inch and floor-deviation marking precision of up to +/-1/32 inch at operating distances of 5 to 30 m with a high-accuracy total station, obstacle detection, and printing of lines, arcs, circles and text. HP claims up to 10x productivity over manual layout, citing roughly 180 to 300 m2 per hour for one SitePrint operator against 25 to 35 m2 per hour for a two-person manual crew.

Software has been extended through value packs: Value Pack 2.0 in 2024 added HP SitePrint Cloud and SW Suite features, an improved AutoCAD plug-in, a planned Revit plug-in and support for more total stations, and HP says a later software version prints points up to 30% faster. SitePrint is sold on a pay-as-you-go model that bundles support, unlimited repairs and next-business-day unit swaps, through HP and its resellers. The safety certifications cited at launch were TUV SUD for safety and Applus for EMC. SitePrint received a 2023 Innovative Product Award and appeared in BuiltWorlds' Robotics Top 50 lists for 2024 and 2025.
