"Manual labor. Automated."
French start-up founded 2025 whose Toutatis physical-AI engine lets standard robot arms fold garments and pick mixed items; raised EUR 3M pre-seed.
Gobano Robotics is a French physical-AI company that writes the software that lets standard industrial robot arms handle tasks normally left to manual workers, such as folding garments and picking mixed objects. It does not design its own arms: it integrates its AI into arms sourced from hardware partners and sells the result to industrial customers, who can either buy the arm and subscribe to the software or rent the complete package. The publisher of its website is Cyberus AI SAS, registered in Nanterre (RCS 987 895 471) with its registered office in Boulogne-Billancourt; the company lists its operating offices as Nantes and London.
Gobano was founded in June 2025 by Ziad Khoury, its chief executive, and Roch Mollero, both graduates of the Ecole Polytechnique. Khoury previously co-founded an AI start-up that optimised public-transport routing and was sold to Siemens in 2021. In September 2025 the company announced a EUR 3 million pre-seed round, its first, from Axeleo Capital, Bpifrance, Polytechnique Ventures, Kima Ventures, Motier Ventures and Plug and Play Ventures together with business angels; its website also lists Prequel Ventures and The Faktory Fund among its backers. At the time of that round it had seven employees and planned its first demonstrations before the end of 2025, with the money going to hiring, R&D and building out the commercial offer.
Its technology is built around foundation models for robot manipulation trained with reinforcement learning and human demonstration. Toutatis v1, the company's physical-AI engine, is described as turning human demonstrations into robot behaviour and reaching 99 percent or higher reliability within days of training. Two solutions are marketed on top of it. Soft Materials targets industrial laundries and apparel logistics: robots pick towels, pillowcases and garments from bulk, then stack, unfold, stretch, flatten, inspect and fold them, adapting their grasp in real time to the state of each item. Universal Picking covers bin picking, piece picking, parcel handling and sorting across arbitrary objects without per-item training. The company also names manufacturing tasks such as machine tending, inspection and assembly, and earlier press coverage mentioned screwing. Gobano does not publish throughput figures, the robot arm brands it uses, or named customers.
The company appears in the exhibitor listing of the Global Industrie trade show in France, and in 2026 RobotToday featured it alongside Mistral and Ami Labs as one of the French start-ups working on robot intelligence.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Physical-AI engine that turns human demonstrations into reliable manipulation behaviour on standard robot arms.
Robot-arm solution for picking, unfolding, inspecting, stacking and folding garments and textiles from bulk.
Physical-AI picking and sorting across arbitrary objects and SKUs without per-item training.
