Embodied-AI startup founded in 2024 by CASIA-trained Liu Nianfeng; its few-shot FAM manipulation models run on its own wheeled dual-arm robot and Unitree G1.

Company Overview

FiveAges (Chinese name Zhongke Diwuji) is an embodied intelligence company founded in September 2024 and reported by start-up databases to be headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Its co-founder and CEO, Dr. Liu Nianfeng, studied automation at the University of Science and Technology of China and earned his PhD at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), where the team began multimodal research in 2013 and vision-language navigation work in 2019. Tsinghua University computer science professor Sun Fuchun, an early researcher in intelligent robotics, is named as co-founder and chief scientist. The core team comes largely from CASIA and Tsinghua.

Models. FiveAges develops what it calls the robot brain. Its main product line is the FAM (FiveAges Manipulator) series of embodied manipulation models, which the company describes as ultra-few-shot: it says a task can be learned from three to five real demonstrations, with a basic-task success rate of up to 97% on a public benchmark and data needs cut to about 1% of conventional methods. Instead of a standard vision-language-action architecture, FAM uses heatmap alignment, lifting features back into 3D heatmaps to retain spatial geometry; the FAM-1.3 upgrade combines 3D spatial priors with video generation. The research portfolio also includes BridgeV2W, a world model that predicts the visual result of an action command before it is executed; FlowWAM, a next-generation world model that the company says ranked first overall on the WorldArena leaderboard in April 2026; SpatialVAM for 3D spatial video generation; VERM for adaptive viewpoint generation; and CA-Nav, a navigation method that needs no demonstration data. These performance claims come from the company and have not been independently verified.

Robots and deployments. FiveAges sells its brain to robot makers and also builds its own hardware. Around September 2025 it was selected as Unitree's first brain supplier, delivering two application scenarios within about a month and integrating its models with the Unitree G1 humanoid for power-sector inspection and operation. Its own wheeled dual-arm embodied robot is 189 cm tall with 28 degrees of freedom, including 7 per arm, and is used in logistics, flexible industrial production lines and energy inspection. Midea completed a proof of concept and placed a small-batch order, with robots working on microwave oven lines at a Foshan factory; Leapmotor has deployed its robots on automotive production lines, Sinopec Group uses them in unmanned retail projects, and State Grid is named among more than ten domestic core customers. In March 2026 FiveAges ran live demonstrations in Europe, including universal bin handling at the German headquarters of a global manufacturer, followed by appearances at LogiMAT 2026 and Hannover Messe 2026. The company reports overseas orders worth hundreds of millions of yuan, with European projects in delivery and plans to expand into Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.

Funding. FiveAges has raised capital at a fast pace: seed and seed-plus rounds in the first half of 2025 (Zhuoyuan Asia, Cowin Capital), angel rounds of nearly RMB 100 million in October 2025 led by Huarui Investment and CDH Baifu, Pre-A rounds in early 2026 led by Sequoia China and later by Xinneng Ventures and Youshan Capital, a Series A of several hundred million yuan in May 2026 led by Fortera Capital, and consecutive Series A1 and A2 rounds announced in August 2026 with investors including the BOC financial asset investment fund, Sinopower Venture Capital and Beyondsoft. Reported total funding exceeds RMB 1 billion.
