DynamoBot GmbH is a German agricultural robotics startup based in Bonn. It was founded in late 2023 to commercialise research from the University of Bonn's PhenoRob Cluster of Excellence. The founding team's work goes back to 2017, when it began building AgriBot, an open-source lightweight robotic platform for autonomous navigation in crop fields. In 2019 the team developed a visual navigation framework that lets robots follow crop rows using onboard cameras without external positioning hardware or pre-built maps, and in 2020 it built BonnBot under PhenoRob to identify individual plants, map weeds and treat them selectively. In 2024 and 2025 the company field-tested its first machine, DynamoBot #1, with partner farmers who had signed letters of intent.
The company adds AI vision and targeted treatment to existing tractors and sprayers instead of replacing machinery. Its main product, WeWeed, is offered as precision weeding as a service and priced per hectare. During a single pass it uses AI image recognition to classify crop plants, surface weeds and long-rooted weeds; surface weeds are removed mechanically, long-rooted weeds are treated electrically and crop plants can receive a targeted micro-dose of fertiliser or crop protection product. WeWeed can be mounted on a standard tractor or run as an autonomous standalone unit. The company reports detection accuracy above 97 percent in tested conditions, a dataset of more than 23,000 plant instances, training across 17 or more crop types and about 2 hours per hectare in organic sugar beet compared with 4 to 5.5 days of hand weeding.
WeSee is a retrofit spot-spraying kit that converts existing sprayer booms with individual nozzle valves and AI vision, and WeMan is the data layer that records images, detections, treatments and results, hosted in Germany for GDPR-compliant workflows. DynamoBot has run a proof-of-concept project with Bayer AG and holds letters of intent from farmers covering more than 3,000 hectares. It is supported by NRW.BANK, BAFA, the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space, the INVEST grant programme and the digihub Ignition+ accelerator, and is a member of the NVIDIA Inception Program. In 2026 it took second place in the DLG Feldtage RapidFire startup pitch and was a top five finalist for the RIG Outstanding Startup Award.
