Wittlich-based CLEMENS builds vineyard and orchard implements; its pre-pruner uses AI camera post detection and its under-vine tools fit robots.
CLEMENS GmbH & Co. KG, trading as CLEMENS Technologies, is a family-run German manufacturer of machinery for viticulture, fruit growing and beverage technology, based in Wittlich, Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded in 1952 and now moving to its third generation of family leadership, it employs about 220 people including 27 trainees, exports around 80 percent of its sales and is doubling production capacity with a new 40,000 square metre building. A US subsidiary, CLEMENS Vineyard Equipment, Inc., operates from Woodland, California. Since 1973 the company has also built special machines to customer specification for the food, automotive and mechanical engineering industries.
Its vineyard range covers under-vine cultivation (RADIUS blade series, roller hoe, finger hoe, GSP disc, MULTICLEAN brush), carrier frames and lifts (SB frames, S5 and S6 column lifts, TWIN PEAKS, ATLAS lift masts, COMPACT lift, HEXAGON), soil cultivation tools, direct seeders and mulchers, and canopy-management machines such as leaf cutters, EASYCUT LITE, defoliators and the EASYFIX leaf hefter. Electronics include C.DRIVE, a modular ISOBUS-based control system, and MOOSLE vineyard management software.
The robotics link is twofold. CLEMENS states that its RADIUS M under-vine unit is suited to high-clearance tractors, crawlers and robots. Its tractor-mounted pre-pruner uses a patented optical post-detection system in which a camera and AI image processing locate trellis posts and automatically open the cutting-disc basket, letting the machine work two rows at once and at night with integrated lighting. This camera opening system received a special prize at the Rhineland-Palatinate innovation award in 2025 and a SITEVI 2025 Silver Innovation Award.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
