Xi'an embodied-AI startup founded in 2025 by a Xi'an Jiaotong University team, making the modular Mantis Standard wheeled dual-arm robot with VR teleoperation.
Xi'an Blue Worm EAI Technology Co., Ltd. (Blue Worm) is a full-stack embodied AI company in Xi'an, Shaanxi, founded in March 2025. Its core team is drawn from master's and doctoral graduates of Xi'an Jiaotong University and experienced robotics engineers, and the company's CEO and CTO, Cong Yao, holds a master's degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University. The company's stated mission is to create a new world of human-machine integration. In September 2026 it announced an angel round of tens of millions of yuan led by Xi'an High-tech Industry Venture Capital, to be used for building a production line, product development, new application scenarios and team expansion.
The company's product is Mantis Standard, nicknamed Xiaobai, which Blue Worm describes as a dual-arm mobile manipulation robot. It was launched on 14 September 2026 at a starting price of 9,800 yuan aimed at developers. Rather than a legged humanoid, Mantis Standard combines an omnidirectional wheeled chassis with three degrees of freedom of planar motion, an automatic lifting waist, two arms, a quick-change interface for end effectors at the wrists, and a vision head whose shape was inspired by a handheld camera gimbal. The design principle is described as one brain, many forms, with true modularity: the arm, the chassis, the dual-arm torso and the lift can be used on their own or combined into an arm form, a mobile manipulation form, a chassis form, a desktop dual-arm form, an inspection form and the complete robot. The company explicitly says the robot is not designed for dancing or performances but for practical manipulation work.
Published configurations range from an entry version with 3 kg payload per arm, 80 N·m maximum motor torque and 14 arm degrees of freedom, to higher versions with 7 kg per arm (14 kg for both), 120 N·m maximum motor torque, 7+1 degree-of-freedom arms, 16 arm joints plus waist and two-axis head, a domain controller plus an Intel NUC for compute, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1 and CAN 2.0 interfaces, and about three hours of combined runtime. The stand-alone chassis carries 60 kg, moves at up to 5 m/s and runs for six hours. Higher tiers add lidar, binocular vision or head and wrist cameras, PICO-based VR teleoperation and VLA example code.
The software stack consists of four platforms and an agent layer. Silkworm is the robot architecture platform linking body, control, perception and motion development through ROS 2, the BlueWorm SDK and the Isaac Sim and Genesis simulators. Quantum is the teleoperation platform, covering vision, audio, voice and force feedback, with 4K video and control latency below 10 ms cited by the company. Wormhole is the embodied foundation model platform that connects data, model training, VLA models, agents and task skills, with development paths built on LeRobot, pi0.5, ACT and SmolVLA. Honeycomb is a cloud platform organised around collection, training and inference, including remote work and data exchange. BW Brain is the in-house agent layer, which uses MCP for task calls.
Blue Worm lists research and data collection, commercial service, home service, warehousing and logistics, flexible manufacturing and special industries as application directions, with test tasks such as drink making, exhibition guiding, textile handling, operating home appliances, industrial equipment operation, PCB line transfer and coal sorting. Partners shown on its website include Xidian University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Shaanxi Tourism Group and Zhizi Automobile. At the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games the company won a bronze medal in a mixed-material sorting scenario event, and it also placed second nationally at the 2023 XbotMan Minyue Lake hard-tech entrepreneurship contest and third at the 2025 Xi'an International Entrepreneurship Competition.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Modular wheeled dual-arm robot with lifting waist, quick-change wrists and gimbal-style vision head; arms, chassis and torso can be used alone or combined.
Stand-alone 3-DOF omnidirectional wheeled base used as the mobility module of Mantis Standard, with optional lidar and ROS 2 SDK.
VR teleoperation platform with vision, audio, voice and force-feedback links, used to collect demonstration data for Mantis Standard.
Embodied foundation model platform linking teleoperation data, fine-tuning of VLA models (LeRobot, pi0.5, ACT, SmolVLA), agents and task skills.
