Amprius Technologies, Inc. is a United States manufacturer of high-energy-density lithium-ion battery cells built on a silicon anode, headquartered at 1180 Page Ave, Fremont, California. Its SiCore cell platform uses a silicon anode in place of conventional graphite, reaching energy density of up to 450 Wh/kg while supporting fast charging from 0 to 80 percent in as little as six minutes and operation down to -30 degrees Celsius. These attributes suit weight- and runtime-sensitive uses such as unmanned aircraft systems, high-altitude pseudo-satellites, electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, and manned aviation, along with light electric vehicles and emerging robotics platforms. Amprius holds ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100:2016 certifications relevant to aerospace supply chains.
The company manufactures at a facility in Fremont and has arranged contract manufacturing in Asia to add capacity. Publicly disclosed partners and customers include Nokia Drone Networks, Airbus subsidiary AALTO, and BAE Systems subsidiary Prismatic, whose PHASA-35 stratospheric aircraft uses Amprius cells.
