Nagoya, Japan startup founded 2024 building 7-axis arms and semi-humanoid robots for physical AI R&D; stationary model priced from JPY 6 million.
AGIRobots is a Japanese robotics startup based in the Showa ward of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, that builds robot arms and semi-humanoid robots for physical AI development. The company, registered as AGIRobots Inc., was established on 17 October 2024 and is led by representative director Atsuki Akamisaka. Its stated business areas are humanoid robotics and physical AI, delivered through design and development, proof-of-concept work, technical verification and co-creation projects with industrial partners.
The hardware line starts with a 7-axis robot arm presented on the official site as the PHYSICAL AI ARM and announced in a September 2026 press release as the HA1. The arm uses a metal main structure built from detachable shoulder, upper-arm and forearm modules joined by bolts, with DAMIAO motors, USB 2.0 wiring routed inside the arm for cameras and hand signals, and power delivered to the hand. Rated payload is 3 kg with a peak of about 10 kg at a 90-degree elbow angle, and the upper arm and forearm are each about 25 cm long. A 24 V supply is standard and 48 V is available on request. The redundant seventh axis is intended for manipulation with obstacle avoidance, and the arm is aimed at companies and research institutes starting physical AI work.
Two semi-humanoid platforms reuse the arm. The stationary semi-humanoid carries two 7-axis arms and a head-mounted dual camera, can be installed in fixed equipment or mounted on an existing AGV or AMR, and has options for a 3-axis waist, a vertical lift and an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super compute package; the base configuration is quoted from JPY 6 million. The AGIRobots Worker combines a self-developed omnidirectional mobile base, a vertical lift and dual arms with ROS 2 support, teleoperation and data collection, quoted from JPY 8 million. Hands, extra sensors and software are configured per order.
On the software side, AGIRobots Studio links teleoperation, collection of joint, camera and sensor data, model training with imitation learning, VLA and ACT methods, and deployment back to the robot, with integrated data management still on the roadmap; robots from other makers are supported through custom integration. Services cover PoC design, contract mechanical, control and software development, physical AI development and on-site deployment support as a system integrator, and custom arms are quoted at about two months from a frozen specification. The company publishes the Humanoid Insights technical blog and is recruiting Japanese partners, including test sites, parts makers, integrators, trading companies, research institutes and local governments, for a domestic humanoid co-development program. No customers, funding or headcount have been published.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Metal 7-axis arm with internal hand wiring for humanoid and physical AI research; also used in its semi-humanoids.
Mobile semi-humanoid with omnidirectional base, lift and dual arms for factory pilots and physical AI data capture.
Fixed dual-arm upper-body robot that can be installed in equipment or mounted on an existing AGV/AMR.
Physical AI development software linking teleoperation, data collection, model training and deployment.
