Ferrovalle Implements AI Optimization at Mexico City's Intermodal Rail Hub
Ferrovalle is advancing its digital transformation by implementing Inform’s Syncrotess Optimization Plus platform at its Mexico City intermodal hub. This initiative, known as Smart Yard, aims to enhance yard, equipment, and train operations by providing an optimization layer that integrates with Ferrovalle’s existing Terminal Operating System (TOS). The system is set to go live in June 2027. This development is significant as Ferrovalle’s intermodal division managed approximately 550,000 TEUs in 2025, positioning it as one of the largest inland intermodal operations in Latin America. The Syncrotess platform will utilize data from current systems to enhance operational visibility and continuously update recommendations, thereby improving efficiency in container storage, equipment deployment, and train loading and discharge processes. Looking ahead, Ferrovalle aims to increase equipment throughput and improve the ratio of billable moves to total handling volume. The integration of customs clearance into the optimization process is also noteworthy, ensuring that only cleared containers are loaded onto trains. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
