Teledyne RDI ADCPs to Support Japan’s Deep-Sea Environmental Assessment of Polymetallic Nodule Mining
Teledyne RD Instruments (RDI), a division of Teledyne Marine, has been chosen by Deep Reach Technology (DRT), a marine engineering consultancy, to provide support for a significant deep-sea environmental impact assessment (EIA) project in Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The project, aimed at evaluating the ecological effects of deep-sea activities, will utilize 20 of RDI's advanced Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs). This collaboration highlights the growing emphasis on environmental sustainability in marine engineering and underscores the importance of accurate data collection in assessing the potential impacts of deep-sea operations. The deployment of these sophisticated instruments is expected to enhance the quality of the assessment and contribute to informed decision-making regarding marine resource management in the region.
