Chinese EV maker Xpeng reportedly turns to hybrids

Xpeng Motors is set to broaden its vehicle lineup with the anticipated mass production of its first extended-range hybrid electric vehicle (EREV) model, slated for the latter half of 2025. According to sources familiar with the development, reported by local media outlet 36Kr, the new large sport utility vehicle, designated as G01, will be built on the foundation of Xpeng’s nearly five-meter-long G9 crossover. This strategic move aims to enhance Xpeng's competitive edge in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle market, responding to growing consumer demand for versatile and sustainable transportation options.
