"Real Grip Real World"
Zhaowei Machinery & Electronics unit (est. 2023) making ZWHAND dexterous hands with up to 20 built-in micro motors, plus coreless motors and micro gearboxes.
Shenzhen ZWHAND Technology Co., Ltd. (Chinese short name Zhaowei Dexterous Hand) is the dexterous-hand subsidiary of Shenzhen Zhaowei Machinery and Electronics Co., Ltd., a micro-drive and precision-transmission manufacturer founded in 2001 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in December 2020. ZWHAND was set up in 2023 to commercialise robot hands built on the parent's micro gearbox, coreless motor, encoder and driver technology, and operates from the Zhaowei Industrial Park in Songgang, Bao'an District, Shenzhen. The parent company's history traces micro drive systems back to 2001, automotive supply-chain certifications from 2005, a 3.4 mm diameter gearbox developed in 2015, and the release of its dexterous hand and high-performance motor series in 2024; its Suzhou industrial park began operations in 2025.
Zhaowei unveiled its first self-developed 17-degree-of-freedom dexterous hand at the China Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen in November 2024 and showed it at CES 2025. In July 2025 the company announced its first commercial line: the DM17, a fully direct-drive hand with 17 built-in micro motors aimed at compliant control and industrial assembly; the LM06, an underactuated six-motor hand with high load and strong grip for service robots; and a planned DM18 to DM20 series. These names remain on the English website as the DM17 1.4L, LM06 1.0 and DM20 1.0.
At CES 2026 in January the company launched a renamed second generation that now leads the Chinese website: the B20 with 20 built-in micro motors, the A17 with 17 and the B06 with 6. The official site states that the line offers 17 to 20 active degrees of freedom, drives 17 motors from a single six-layer mainboard, integrates fingertip and surface e-skin with built-in pressure sensors, and is rated for more than 10,000 hours of service life and over one million motion cycles. At the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing, Chinese financial press reported a further refreshed matrix comprising the B06 for high-load gripping, a compact C06 and a B21 for high dexterity, demonstrated in grasping, load-bearing and continuous-operation tests. The company sells hands through its own channels and a JD.com store, and positions them for humanoid robots, industrial sorting and assembly, service robots, research and education.
Besides complete hands, ZWHAND markets the drive components inside them as an actuator series. Published ranges include precision gearboxes with 0.03 to 35 N.m continuous output torque, reduction ratios from 4 to 1576 and 88 to 98 percent single-stage efficiency; brushless coreless motors rated 5 to 24 V and 0.4 to 8 mN.m at 20,970 to 46,800 rpm; magnetic encoders up to 1024 pulses per revolution; high-performance drivers for 6 to 40 V and up to 6 A with a 600 MHz processor; and ball screws. These components let humanoid makers build their own finger and wrist actuators on the same micro-transmission platform that Zhaowei supplies to electronics and automotive customers.
The parent company, Shenzhen Zhaowei Machinery and Electronics, is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange under code 003021; its main businesses are micro-transmission and micro-drive systems for electronics, intelligent-equipment and automotive customers, with embodied-intelligence products as a newer segment.
