Beijing-based national humanoid robot innovation center founded Nov 2023, developing Embodied Tien Kung platform and Huisi Kaiwu embodied AI system.
Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics Co., Ltd. (X-Humanoid) was established in November 2023 in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA). It is China's first innovation center dedicated to the full-stack development of embodied intelligence robots, covering core technologies, product R&D, and application deployment. The consortium was co-founded by UBTECH Robotics, Beijing Jingcheng Machinery Electric, Xiaomi Robotics, Yizhuang Robotics, and Shoucheng Capital. In October 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Beijing Municipal Government jointly designated the center as a National-Local Jointly Built Embodied Intelligence Robotics Innovation Center, formalizing its position within China's national science and technology strategy.
The company's two core platforms are: Embodied Tien Kung, a general-purpose humanoid robot body engineered for long endurance, high payload bimanual operation, and industrial-grade reliability; and Huisi Kaiwu, a universal embodied AI platform that integrates perception, decision-making, and execution in a closed-loop system. The Embodied Tien Kung Ultra robot completed a 21.0975 km half-marathon fully autonomously in 2:40:42, the first such achievement by a humanoid robot without remote control. The newer Embodied Tien Kung 3.0 platform, launched in early 2026, incorporates upgraded balance, motion control, tactile interaction, and full-stack autonomy capabilities. X-Humanoid has deployed humanoid robots in high-risk power grid inspections in collaboration with the China Electric Power Research Institute, partnered with Li-Ning Sports Science Laboratory for long-duration athletic shoe testing, and signed agreements with Bayer to advance humanoid robots for pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, quality control, warehousing, and logistics. At CES 2026 the company showcased Embodied Tien Kung 2.0 and Embodied Tien Kung Ultra.
In early 2026 the company closed its first external funding round of more than 700 million yuan (approximately $100 million USD). X-Humanoid also maintains an open-source community platform and has released the Embodied AI Data initiative to support the broader embodied intelligence ecosystem.

At the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, China's X-Humanoid showcased a humanoid robot that completed a 100-meter sprint in 9.39 seconds, surpassing Usain Bolt's previous record of 9.58 seconds set in 2009. This achievement highlights the advancements in robotics and the competitive spirit of the event, which featured over 2,000 humanoid robots. The significance of this milestone lies in China's growing leadership in humanoid robot development, as the event aims to demonstrate the country's rapid technological progress. The successful sprint and high jump records, alongside the participation of numerous robots, underscore the potential of robotics in various applications, despite some failures during the competitions. Looking ahead, the event reflects China's ambition in robotics, but experts caution that while impressive, the technology is still primarily used for demonstrations. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
