USA Rare Earth (USAR) is a US-based company building the world's first fully integrated rare earth value chain outside of China — spanning mining, processing, metal and alloy production, and sintered permanent magnet manufacturing. USAR's primary product is sintered neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets, the strongest type of permanent magnet commercially available. These magnets are essential inputs to high-performance servo motors, collaborative robots, CNC machines, automated assembly systems, surgical robots, MRI machines, precision-guided munitions, electric traction motors, and semiconductor fabrication equipment. The company's integrated platform operates as follows: rare earth ore is mined at the Round Top Mountain deposit in West Texas using heap leaching methods that reduce water use versus conventional open-pit mining; processing and separation is conducted in Texas and Colorado; metals and alloys are produced at LCM's facility in Cheshire, UK (with a planned facility in Lacq, France); and sintered permanent magnets are manufactured at a 310,000-square-foot facility in Stillwater, Oklahoma. USAR announced its first batch of sintered permanent magnets from its Innovations Lab in January 2025. Production Line 1a (1,200 metric ton annual capacity) commissioning began in Q1 2026, with full-scale capacity of nearly 3,600 metric tons per year across four production lines planned.

The company is backed by $1.6 billion in US government commitments — $277 million in direct funding plus a $1.3 billion senior secured loan through the Department of Commerce's CHIPS and Science Act program. The US Department of Energy is also collaborating on rare earth separation technologies. A key driver is the January 2027 DFARS deadline prohibiting the Department of Defense from procuring rare earth magnets sourced from China, Russia, North Korea, or Iran.

In April 2026, USAR announced a definitive agreement to acquire Serra Verde Group for approximately $2.8 billion, which would further expand its global footprint.
