Shenzhen humanoid and educational robot maker; Walker S2 industrial humanoid in mass production with 800M yuan orders; listed on HKEX (9880) since Dec 2023.
UBTECH Robotics is a Shenzhen, China-based robotics company founded in 2012 by Zhou Jian, with a product portfolio spanning consumer humanoid robots, STEM educational robotics kits, commercial service robots, and full-size industrial humanoid platforms. The company's Jimu Robot kits—programmable, sensor-equipped construction systems compatible with visual coding tools—gained wide adoption in educational settings and consumer households, aligning with national STEM curriculum priorities in China and providing the company with stable early revenue. UBTECH also produced the Alpha series of compact consumer humanoid robots before progressively committing its engineering resources to life-size humanoid development. Following a Series C funding round backed by Tencent and ICBC, UBTECH reached a valuation of $5 billion and has raised a reported total of approximately $1.34 billion across six funding rounds from 28 investors.
UBTECH became the first humanoid robot company to complete a listing on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), debuting on December 29, 2023, at an offer price of HK$90 per share and achieving a market capitalization of approximately HK$37.6 billion at the time of listing. The company's flagship industrial platform, Walker S2, is described as China's first commercialized full-size bipedal humanoid robot and features 52 degrees of freedom, dexterous five-fingered hands, and the world's first autonomous hot-swappable battery system that enables battery replacement in under three minutes without human intervention. The Walker S2 integrates UBTECH's proprietary Co-Agent intelligent control system and is rated to carry payloads of up to 15 kilograms with a waist rotation range of plus or minus 162 degrees.
UBTECH commenced mass production and began delivering the first batch of Walker S2 units in 2025, targeting deployment in automotive manufacturing, smart logistics, and data center environments. Cumulative orders for the Walker series exceeded 800 million yuan (approximately $112 million) by mid-2025, and the company set a delivery target of 500 units within the year. UBTECH's commercial strategy encompasses three application verticals—industrial manufacturing, commercial services, and household assistance—and the company continues to develop its humanoid platform alongside its established educational and service robot product lines.
