TideWise is a Brazilian company that develops and operates uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) for offshore, port and coastal work. It was founded in Brazil in 2019 and is headquartered at Rua Santo Cristo 70 in Rio de Janeiro. The headquarters houses its engineering team, a remote operations centre (ROC) and a workshop for series production of its autonomous fleet. TideWise also has a branch in Joinville, Santa Catarina, and a subsidiary in Antwerp, Belgium, that serves the European offshore wind inspection market.
The company has two founders. Chief executive Rafael Coelho is a naval engineer with a master's degree from COPPE/UFRJ; he led the registration of Brazil's first USV and received the Brazilian Navy's Amigo da Marinha medal in 2021. Chief technology officer Sylvain Joyeux is a robotics scientist who previously led projects at DFKI in Germany and at SENAI CIMATEC.
TideWise operates its vessels as a service, under a robot-as-a-service model, rather than only selling hardware. Its service lines are asset inspection, hydrographic and geophysical survey, offshore and coastal logistics, environmental monitoring and defence. The company reports more than 30 missions completed and over R$44 million invested in research and development. It operates under Brazil's NORMAM-205 maritime rules in cooperation with the Brazilian Navy.
Its fleet page lists five designs. The Tupan MK2 is 5 m long with a 1.8 m beam and a 200 kg payload. It carries 340 litres of fuel for 5-8 days of autonomy, holds station, surveys at 3.5 knots and can deploy an inspection-class ROV to 300 m; four units are in service. The Suppressor S7 is a diesel-powered USV 7.4 m long with a top speed above 24 knots, and the Suppressor S11 is 11 m long, weighs 8 t and is faster than 35 knots. Both carry navigation radar, 3D LiDAR, PTZ cameras and hull-mounted multibeam sonar. Myatan is a 23.6 m, 240 t design with DP2 dynamic positioning, a 40 t deck load, 30 days of endurance and support for ROVs and AUVs. A fifth vessel, Yporan, is listed as confidential.
The two Suppressor boats make up the SUPPRESSOR defence programme, developed in cooperation with EMGEPRON. They operate from a mobile base housed in a 20-foot container and are aimed at border patrol, military intelligence, anti-submarine warfare and mine countermeasures.
Much of the company's R&D portfolio is project work with Petrobras, Repsol Sinopec Brasil and Shell. ARIEL, a project with Repsol and COPPE/UFRJ, combined a USV and a drone to detect and track oil at sea, and won Brazil's ANP technological innovation award in 2020. USIS integrated an ROV with the Tupan USV for autonomous subsea inspection and was a finalist for the 2023 ANP award. UMOVe is designing a certifiable 24 m autonomous vessel. A separate dual-purpose project covers an 18 m USV with 21 days of autonomy that can carry up to 10 t of cargo and launch and recover ROVs in deep water. Other work includes digital twins of offshore wind assets built with the Tupan and an onboard drone, and LiDAR-based wind and sea measurements for the Wind2Energy project.
The company's website describes a range of completed operations. In the Campos Basin, a Tupan carried cargo between platforms P-43 and P-48 while controlled from more than 300 km away, and in the Santos Basin a Tupan ran a 142-hour continuous eDNA sampling campaign. TideWise has carried out hydrographic surveys at Porto do Acu, post-dredging bathymetry at Imbetiba and water-quality sampling in Guanabara Bay. In the Belgian North Sea it inspected an offshore wind farm using a USV together with a drone. In 2026 it ran a hydrographic and geophysical survey with Petrobras and UFES at the Aracatu offshore wind pilot area. During the Brazilian Navy exercises ARAMUSS-25 and MINEX-25, its USVs detected and classified naval mines and launched an ROV automatically.
