Shenzhen Stella-Robot Technology Co., Ltd. — also known as Interstellar Light Year (Chinese: Shenzhen Xingjiguangnian Robot Technology) — is a Shenzhen-based embodied intelligence startup founded in 2024 by Wei Dehao, a 1998-born engineer and Tsinghua University graduate. The company focuses on the design, engineering, and manufacture of dexterous robotic hands, proprietary joint modules, and the manipulation control software required for fine-grained physical interaction in humanoid robots.
The company pursues a full-stack self-research approach. On the hardware side, this covers joint module design, tendon-driven actuation systems, and tactile and touch sensor integration. On the software side, it encompasses a dexterous hand operating system built on reinforcement learning and imitation learning algorithms. This combined approach targets the precision manipulation challenge — enabling robots to handle small, irregular, or fragile objects with the dexterity and compliance that general-purpose grippers cannot provide.
The flagship product is the Pantheon Hand, a tendon-driven dexterous hand released at IROS 2025 in its Pantheon Hand 22 configuration. The design features 22 degrees of freedom — 15 active, 5 passive, and 2 at the wrist — and moves approximately 80% of its actuators from the fingers into the forearm, reducing the weight and inertia of the distal mechanism while increasing both speed and load capacity. Maximum grasping force output is 30 kg per hand. An internal auto-tensioning system maintains consistent tendon tension without manual adjustment. Modular architecture allows complete disassembly in under 8 minutes, supporting field maintenance and rapid reconfiguration.
Stella-Robot also produces the Gaia Hand, an open-source dexterous hand released to promote community development, and the Stella Micro Joint Module for integration into third-party humanoid platforms.
